Scouting for a new meal.
Sorry to see such a great restaurant go. Jane and her staff had a lovely personable touch and a good attention to detail. Everything a restaurant should be. Nice, heartfelt article by Liz Feltham, too. Well done, all! Best of luck with the new place. PS Can you reveal your recipe for that iced tea? Shrimp cakes?
One of the strengths of NSCAD as an institution (aside from students, staff and the massive cultural value it adds to Halifax) is its reputation nationally and internationally. If NSCAD loses its name and is absorbed by a bigger institution, we diminish that (for lack of a better word) brand. Another thing I'd like to know more about is the actual financial effectiveness of all this educational amalgamation talk. Will it turn out to be as ineffective as all the municipal amalgamations of the 1990's? Another one of those moves that sounds like common sense, but is mostly cost neutral at the end of the day?
YEAH -- nice to see the return of Liz Feltham in the pages of The Coast!
I like the teppanyaki scene from Beverly Hills Ninja myself.
You're doing great, MB - keep up the good work!
Great job Sarah articulating this. We need people like you, with experience, sitting at the political table and our kitchen table.
Brewnoser, this city has a real restaurant reviewer, but she's new, so it's likely she didn't know the history of the wine cellar at Chianti. I like Melissa's reviews. They're smartly written and show a knowledge of cooking and quality.
Given the WIDE disparity between Italian restaurants in town, it's not a given that an Italian's wine list should be great or should be addressed. In fact, it's more subpar to middling in the majority of places in town. A cheeky little plonk as the house wine....etc....I mean, it's only worth mentioning if you can tell the place has invested time and energy into its list.
