Typical of HRM , legal dept and clerk's office, that nothing gets solved simply. The clerk and CAO can admit their error in accepting her initially, offer to give her unpaid leave of absence , which can't be denied anyway, and let her run. Should be simple.
Who came up with these standards? The standards for buses are much lower. They should be the same - it is one transit system.
The vote was:
In favor: Nichol, McCluskey, Fisher, Smith, Sloane, Watts, Mosher, Adams, Kelly
Opposed:Streatch, Dalyrumple, Hendsbee, Karsten, Barkhouse, Wile, Blumenthal, Walker, Johns, Harvey, Outhit, Lund
Absent: Uteck, Hum, Rankin
Great article. I'm surprised there are no comments. Councillors and the mayor need to force the lawyers to say exactly how HRM could be financially damaged by making something public and also need to check the MGA, which does not give blanket rights to keep it secret just because it is a 'property matter', 'contractual matter' or 'legal matter'.
Re: “And round and roundabout we go....”
Tim is usually right but I think he is wrong in this case. I'm extremely familiar with the Armdale roundabout and it sucks for bikes and pedestrians as well as for cars at certain times. The Larry Uteck roundabouts are just totally ridiculous and unnecessary. North Park and Cunard is just a regular 4 way intersection and there is no need for this. North Park and Cogswell is a five way so might be appropriate but unequal volumes of traffic makes it a bad candidate and there really isn't much room either. I wish the traffic people would just look at the accident data and come up with a cheap solution to the major problems at an intersection instead of just wanting to change everything.
