My Interview with B.J. Snowden

I was supposed to have an email chat with legendary outsider music star B.J. Scheduled: Jim Guthrie, Heck Yes!

Lovelywonderful Jim Guthrie is making a pre-Sappy stop at the Paragon on Thursday, July 29. He’ll be joined by The Skeletons who look cool as balls. $10 at the door. Next to Aaron Riches’ alter egoRoyal City (who Guthrie plays with now), Mr. Guthrie is my favorite Guelphian. As White and his guitar settle into a chair at the main tent before his suppertime set at this year’s […]

Sappyfest Day Three

Sunday at Sappy had a slow start, we were pretty partied out after Saturday’s hijinx. I was pretty impressed when we spotted a group of musicians and volunteers playing baseball at 10:30; we thought about stopping by and hitting some dingers but we decided to skip out on the action and head to the performers’ brunch. No other festival treats musicians as well Sappy does, they pay well, they give performers a pass for the entire weekend and they also provide a musicians’ free brunch and dinner every day of the festival. The Sunday brunch took place in the university

Sappyfest Day Two

We woke on day two of Sappyfest to a pleasant surprise, the rain had passed and the sun was out in full force. We hung up our soaked sleeping bags to dry and then cruised down to Bridge St. to see what was shakin’. Saturday at Sappy features a world-class zine fair and a craft […]
