A 22-year-old man is dead following a shooting in north end Halifax.

The death is the twelfth so far in HRM this year. It’s also the third shooting death in the last 10 days.

If these communities want to do something about these shootings, the first thing they have to do is unite and tell the police what they know. I have no doubt the police know who has committed these crimes, however, without the evidence, they cannot bring them to trial. Because people don’t want to “rat” anyone out, the shootings will continue. So when I hear community leaders say they don’t know what can be done, I say BS. The leaders must tell their people to assist the police. When the criminals learn the community will not out up with it, that members will testify and the rest of the community will protect those who do testify, a lot of garbage will be taken care of. The criminals cannot get everyone in the community.
I take offense with the phrase “rat someone out”…
Well, they may say nothing and eventually they’ll all shoot each other dead. Then their stupidity ends. Maybe hand out guns to expedite the process? What fools…
Do I dare say this out loud? Is there a role for individual or, to be more daring, parental responsibility in bringing up kids? In teaching values, basic values that include never to murder? Or is it always someone else’s fault when parents fail their children?
If only some local artist could compose a Rap about gun violence?
Omar coming!
Because making seasoned hunters/outdoors-man and farmers who are tax paying, law abiding citizens pay for gun registry is really gonna solve the WANNABE GANGSTA PROBLEM YOU HAVE IN THIS SHITTY LITTLE CANADIAN TOWN OF TAX GRABS!
Because handing in guns for bus tickets is really going to change the way a wannabe rapper/poser is going think and do for its wannabe “street cred”.
Your problem Halifax is a WANNA-BE!!!
These kids watch too many movies about Compton or some other shithole somewhere far away from NS……. and the rap music is fucking poison.TRY PARENTING??? Oh wait their parents are fucked too.
@Winston Smith- Rap music is part of the problem and not to mention it is absolute garbage that takes almost zero talents. Just a bunch of punks glamorizing crime and misogynistic words towards woman and pure racism. No other genre promoting crime or using repetitive racial slurs and curse words. Rap=DUMB!
Rap is for people who are not very smart and never will be smart.Fact!
Leaglize all drugs. How many “turf wars” do we have to have over drugs before the lightbulb finally lights up? Same stupid blame game and finger pointing from the same groups, but never pointing at the real problem…drugs. We have dealt with drugs as a criminal problem for way too long, and after a century of building prisons, wasting money on giant, run away police budgets, and turning a socioeconomic problem into a battle of police versus “criminals”, we have devestated and segregated our most vulnerable communities. Remove drugs as an income source, we have no problem.
