A 75-year-old flower shop, known simply as The Flower Shop (1796 Granville Street, 423-7133), is still standing, though a miscommunication resulted in a report in our online Best of Halifax results indicating otherwise. Approval has been given from council for the building housing The Flower Shop to be developed, but there’s no timeline yet for it to take place. Proprietor Katherine Sharpe says she has many options open to her for the continuance of the business, and is currently considering them as the plans for downtown developers are slowly unveiled. In the meantime, The Flower Shop delivers locally, nationally or internationally, and more information on their products and services can be found at their website: theflowershophalifax.ca.

What a shame – this building has so much character. Imagine if downtown had more buildings like this… it would be incredible.
