Fid Resto (1569 Dresden Row, 422-9162) is seeing a lot of positive response to its brunch menu, served Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 2pm. People are getting on board with the idea that it changes depending on what’s freshly available from the Halifax farmers’ market. A couple of things the restaurant has in the pipeline relates to sourcing food locally: its donating $2 from every $21 pork ribs with spicy corn eaten between October 2-18 to the World Wildlife Fund, a big supporter of local food production. It’ll also be offering a 100 percent Nova Scotian signature menu, “The Fiddler Feast,” during the Nova Scotia Wine Festival on October 9, 10 and 11. How does smoked beef brisket with a potato and squash gratin or crisp-skin ocean perch with barley and toasted hazelnut sound to you?
