I just saw an apartment listing for a vegan apartment for rent. I thought it was bad telling people to smoke and not have pets, now these landlords are trying to control what you eat! Crazy shit going on in the HRM. No wonder nobody can find a place to live with lunacy like this going on. We need to enforce laws preventing landlords from acting like tyrants. This is beyond ridiculous! —Meat Eater Apartment SeekerÂ

It was a person looking for a vegan roommate so they don’t have to split the fridge and frying pans half meat/half vegan option, because it’s a shared fridge. That’s completely reasonable. There are tons of apartments you could choose from, and it’s already hard for a vegan to find a place to stay as a roommate, because how many places are really going to be accepting of a “vegan” moving in; most will assume the worst.
I put “vegan” in quotes there because the word itself has now been made synonymous with something bad, namely because of people who are anti-vegan (like this post).
You could just look at the other 99% of ads on Kijiji. You feel discriminated against, while in reality people who decide to be vegan are bullied for no reason 24/7 and massively generalized as if they all exhibit the same unliked traits. You now feel this sentiment for 2 seconds and so you have to reach out to the news because of it. I have a feeling this really has nothing to do with the apartment, does it? “Vegan” is a sensitive word and clearly that has upset you.
