Certain stores need to stop jacking up their prices before putting on their “get one free” specials and thinking their customers don’t notice. These stores seem to think the general public is completely stupid. Since when is Kraft Dinner over 2 bucks? I never pay over $1 for it! A can of beans for $2 something and get one free? Yeah right! Again, beans are usually under $1 any other time. A bag of Crispers, $3 something on your sale? Since when? I can get them for a buck something most times! How is this a deal? Fix your damn prices and quit false advertising “deals.” You ain’t foolin no one with this shit!

  1. Let me try and explain this to ya. First, jacking the prices and then marking it down to look like a “sale” is illegal. Corporations can be fined up to $10,000,000.00. Yes, you read that right, ten million. I don’t imagine most companies are willing to take that risk by so blatantly advertising false prices

    Second, what you’re seeing is a “buy one get one” based on either the regular retail price or the manufacturer’s suggested retail. But, because most stores don’t sell at the MSRP, it looks like they are jacking the price. I used to work for a store that did this frequently. Say an item was $20.00. They decided to mark it down, an “in store clearance”, to say, $15.00. A couple of weeks later, a national flyer promoted the item at $10.00…”Save 50%”, which it was, based on the regular retail price. However, my store had it marked down to $15.00. So you say, wait a minute! 50% of $15.00 is not $10.00 and you would be right. However, it is 50% of the regular retail price. Looks hokey but it’s all legal and it happens every day.

    However, if you have rock solid proof, let the Feds know, by all means.

    Like most “rules” no one to enforce it.
    Also as much as you’d like to believe your statement is accurate, there’s no price control in Canada. Any store can price things as they want.

    @OP.
    Sorry to disappoint you but this is a sign that prices are increasing in the next couple of months. Usually happens when they increase product prices permanently.
