I have lived in Halifax for almost 10 years now, and every year, housing becomes less affordable, food costs rise, and I descend further below the poverty line. I realize inflation isn’t a Halifax-based phenomenon, but everything is expensive here, and often overpriced for the quality. I have a professional job, a good education, and I can’t afford to live here anymore. I know it’s not the city’s fault, but the prices of things are out of control.
