WTF Halifax? Long Lake Provincial Park, over 2,000 hectares and nary a centimetre dedicated for dogs to run and swim, unless you risk being fined. There is room for all. FTL (Free the Leash).

“There is room for all”
NO there isn’t. You dog people don’t make room for anyone but yourselves. You don’t get that allowing your dog off leash, free to roam, run, bark, jump on people and in some cases attack other people or animals absolutely removes freedom of movement and reasonable enjoyment from everyone else in the park for your own selfish benefit.
There is NOTHING WORSE than trying to relax a bit in a park and just as you’re about to “ZEN” from a stressful day, you suddenly have a loud, obnoxious fool and their dog completely invade your space. And then there’s the dog piss and shit the vast majority of you leave behind for other people to walk through. It’s disgusting.
The city FOOLISHLY designated many parks in Halifax to be off-leash dog parks. There are countless places for you to go. GO THERE.
Just because you “say” you have the right to go wherever you want and do whatever you want with your dog, and because you absolutely insist that anyone who doesn’t like it is simply over-reacting absolutely doesn’t make it so.
Great post, Try. I totally agree.
As a user of the park I can say that most people don’t actually seem to follow the rules anyways. I keep my dog on leash and I am not a fan of loose dogs coming up to my dog, not knowing if they are friendly or not.
Also, this is a provincial park. I don’t think HRM has a say in the matter so you’re bitching to the wrong audience.
