When you talk so much about eating local and drinking local, and then buy the cheapest bacon money can buy from your local Walmart, you come off as more than a little two-faced. Halifax is full of so many great food suppliers and yet you fill your fridge with meat and produce from big box chains. At the very least stop your lying or change your wifi password. Everyone can see you carrying your groceries into the cafe. —Cafe Complainer

  1. Fuck you! I can’t afford to eat at those big fancy hipster stores you goddamn millennial’s shop at. I have to take what I can get on my shitty salary. Go complain to your goddamn parents. I think they will appreciate you coming out of the basement to talk to them.

  2. The Pork Shop, Withrows, probably Brothers and Im sure many more places produce good quality bacon at a good price.
Do you want to eat meat thats from an animal thats been treated shitty, been killed weeks ago, and has travelled an unlimited distance before it arrived in your plate? Meat is the first thing that we should be buying locally.

  3. Apparently, some people can’t read. Allow me to repeat my statement, with the operative word in caps:

Please cite a MAJOR bacon producer in Nova Scotia.

  4. Oh, you mean like Maple Leaf? Why, whats the big deal? Other than its crap.

Also, the double smoked is pretty good, but I think they also have regular smoked.

  5. @BannedFromCoast: Why are you making this about you? The OP wasn’t complaining about people in general who don’t by local, the OP was complaining about a specific person who is sanctimonious about buying local, but then gets bacon from Walmart. I.e. OP is complaining about hypocrisy.
