I am sure your heart was in the right place, but a poppy is the symbol of millions of lives lost in war. Its red colour symbolizes the blood spilled by those millions of lives.

I think we have to determine intent. Did they intend to exploit Remembrance Day and increase sales by using poppies? No. Did they intend to thumb their noses at veterans by creating this display? No. Did the bitcher ask the store about the display and its intent? No. Is this a valid bitch? No.
