Like many in this city, Seahorse booking manager Troy Arsenault is sick to death of the winter parking ban. Although he says he hasn’t been affected by the ban directly, his bar’s customers are: “Customers having to pack up and leave with designated drivers really hurts business and the vibe downtown,” he says. “I feel as a room in town that caters to culture and developing concepts, I should address this situation head-on and have all the voices I hear on the streets and in the club actually get heard.” In response, he’s put together an event happening at the Seahorse on January 19 called “The Parking Ban Stand” that will allow pissed-off vehicle owners to come together against the ban, sign a petition and write down possible solutions to be collected in a ballot box. Musicians, artists and comedians are invited to perform at the event to help protest the inherent shittiness of it all. Email theseahorse@live.ca for more info. The evening begins at 8pm and it’s free.
