The Pharcyde

Talib Kweli has unfortunately cancelled his 2011 Halifax Jazz Festival appearance in Halifax with Idle Warship (link above is to his Twitter feed, scroll down to June 25 for his stellar interactions with pissed off fans).

Halifax Jazz Festival, however—ever the lemonade makers—have confirmed The Pharcyde in Idle Warship’s place.

You happy? I’m happy. If you aren’t, contact the Jazz Fest for a refund on your Idle Warship ticket. But, bear in mind, this show will be good stuff.

  1. This is such great news! I’m even more thrilled to see the show now..if that was at all possible! Have you seen Ambition’s latest video off his album Just For Kicks yet? http://bit.ly/ambitionvid If you’re not already excited for July 9th, this video will definitely get you pumped up for the show!

  2. Talib Kweli’s poor reaction to people asking why he canceled the show, really soured me on him. The Pharcyde is a pretty great replacement. Great work by the Jazz Festival to turn this around so quickly.

  3. Wow, good thing the organizers of the Halifax Rap Festival were able to get a replacement so quickly. There was a danger that they might have had to sign a jazz group to fill the spot.

  4. Bo Gus, do all of the rap acts at the festival lack a jazz component/influence?
There’s actually one about for acts at the festival that most people would consider rap – Ghettosocks, the Pharcyde and the Extremities. Digable Planets are a definite fusion of rap and jazz, but I could see placing them under the rap banner. Aside from those four acts, what seems to be bugging you about the festival?
