Rohan Fernando's Snow to open ReelWorld

Haligonian filmmaker's immigrant drama at Toronto multi-racial film festival

For anyone who might be in The Big Smoke this week, here's something:

Following its world premiere at the Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California, Halifax filmmaker Rohan Fernando's feature Snow opens the ReelWorld Film Festival in Toronto on Wednesday, April 6.

Fernando writes and directs the story of Parvati, a young woman whose life is changed forever when the tsunami strikes a small village in Sri Lanka, washing away everyone in her immediate family---including her twin sister, Kala. Parvati then finds herself in Canada, trying to navigate a new life while living in an unfamiliar culture, with distant relatives she's never met.

ReelWorld is a festival whose mandate is to show films---shorts, features and documentaries---highlighting multicultural themes, founded by actor Tonya Lee Williams.
