The Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council’s 35th annual summer show is taking over Victoria Park this weekend. “In a time when the way that people are finding things they love is very different than 35 years ago,” says NSDCC’s program coordinator Julie Rosvall. “Thirty-five years ago you would have 100 exhibitors and 20,000 people would come through it. Now people buy things online and travel a lot more…I think it’s still important to have the meshing of the public and the craftsperson. The craft show community is still really important because it creates those relationships.” In its second year at Victoria Park, the 35-exhibitor show is a go rain or shine. “We have great tents,” enthuses Rosvall. “If it’s raining or drizzling or very sunny and hot, you can come in and be comfortable. We’re there. It’s a great way to spend the weekend.” —Tara Thorne
