Take in an interactive opera experience and check out Howl at the Dalhousie Art Gallery. Howl is definitely unlike any opera you've experienced before, with three 20-minute mini-operas all loosely based on the Allen Ginsberg poem of the same name. Soprano Janice Jackson sings the part of three worlds, which were individually written by three separate composers: Klaus Ib Jorgensen from Denmark, Marie Pelletier from Montreal and Halifax's Sandy Moore. Jorgensen's piece is a story of someone searching for her soul. Pelletier's sequence is about a woman stuck in conversation with an old radio. Moore's is the final scene and is an interpretation of the four stages of love. Audience members will be led through three corners of the Dalhousie Art Gallery for each piece of the show. "They're not going to ever see this anywhere by anyone because it's totally unique to me and to these composers," says Jackson. "There are singing styles from all over the world. You're up close and personal in this show you're being immersed in the space. Which I think is a bit more visceral."
