Halifax road dog Kev Corbett isn’t around much. And when he is, it’s his birthday. For the second consecutive year Corbett’s spent most of his days touring the country. He’s back in town to play and record what’s becoming an annual birthday gig at The Company House on Saturday evening. Corbett’s a folk singer, a self-proclaimed bass-slut and a drum teacher. His natural lean towards telling a good story and holding a room’s attention keeps his guitar in tune and his ears to the grind. “Good acoustic music may be intelligent, skilled, political, thoughtful, challenging, but never boring,” he says. This year, Corbett’s asked Shawna Caspi of Toronto and Winnipeg’s Katie Murphy to help celebrate the occasion.

Sat April 30, The Company House, 2202 Gottingen Street, 8:30pm,  $10
