The Inventions Concert Series is coming back after a six-year hiatus, and its looking for emerging talent in Halifax.

The Inventions Concert Series is a rock concert powered by a community orchestra, featuring local artists who transform their music into complex arrangements with the help of local composers. Some of these artists will have the chance to perform live alongside the orchestra at a rock concert in the late fall, drawing out hundreds of fans.

For now, Inventions is looking for emerging artists to undergo this paid mentorship opportunity this spring, with applications open now until Feb. 18.

Previous artists in the program include Krasnogorsk, Willie Stratton, Owen Steele, Breagh Isabel, The Barrowdowns, Asoniste, Michael Dalton and Helen & Lucy. The purpose? To allow artists to form connections within their community, giving artists an opportunity to grow, and to hopefully perform their original music on a large scale to new audiences.

If you are a solo act, or a part of a duo or music group, you may be eligible for the Inventions program. Applications are reviewed by a jury of artists and music professionals, with priority given to equity-deserving communities, including African Nova Scotian and Indigenous artists.
