Thinking of ways to show your parents that you love them and regret your spiteful, pitted teen years? You are in luck, for Dad Rock Season 2011 is nigh. First up, we have former Men at Work frontman Colin Hay playing two solo shows at the Carleton on August 15 and 16. Both shows start at 9pm and are $35 (902-422-6335). Next, the men behind Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Randy Bachman and Fred Turner - are touring together for the first time in 20 years and are making a stop in Halifax. I guess they’re taking care of unfinished business. A-cha-cha-cha! They play the Metro Centre on September 13 and will be joined by none other than Blue Oyster Cult. Tickets range from $59.00 - $99.00 and can be bought at

Your dad’s other favorite band The Moody Blues will also be hitting the Metro Centre on their vaguely romantic-sounding “Voyage 2011: The Precious Cargo Tour” on September 15 ($49.50 to $82.50). Tickets for both these shows can be purchased through Ticket Atlantic at And finally, one of my own father’s personal favorites Jeff Beck will be playing the Metro Centre on October 12th ($49.50 - $75.00 through Come on, you ungrateful sod! At least you’ll be home by 11.
