Even as summer’s heat remains a distant memory, the crispness of fall can already be felt in a pair of excellent show announces today.
On September 15, the iconic (actually) Lucinda Williams will bring her 20th anniversary celebration of the seminal Car Wheels on a Gravel Road to the Rebecca Cohn. “The influence of Car Wheels On A Gravel Road is immeasurable,” Williams’ own bio accurately states, “and it is considered, much like Williams’ 1988 self-titled album, one of the cornerstones of what is now called Americana.” Tickets are $65 and on sale Friday, June 7 at noon right here.
The Halifax Pop Explosion, which has announced Toronto punks PUP as its only headliner so far, followed that up today with an exciting addition: Michelle Zauner AKA indie-rock powerhouse Japanese Breakfast. Zauner was last in Halifax opening for Tegan & Sara at the Cohn in 2017. A limited number of HPX wristbands is on sale now; individual tickets for the October 24 show go on sale June 14 (presale June 12 via HPX’s Facebook). HPX 2019 runs October 23-26.
