Emerging designers night at Atlantic Fashion Week, October 2009
-
SaintOnge shows off her animal appeal with screenprinted wildlife bags, created with hand-sewn and dyed leather. Love the tassels hanging off the zebra’s ass! -
Sisters Chloe and Parris Gordon unite handprinted fabrics with rock ‘n’ roll jewellery for a primitive but sophisticated look. -
This killer leather-fringe necklace will soon be available at Clothes Horse. -

Who says you have to be tall to have style? -
Off the Cuff contestant has our vote, giving new meaning to the word painter pants. She lists Bowie and Beetlejuice as influences, but there are no scary monsters lurking in that divine hand-woven capelet. -
If you’re going to only show one wearable art piece, do it with impact. -
Coast wearable art cover star Danica Olders remembers the guys. Olders designs from head to toe: scarves, jewellery, shirts and jeans. -
At Toronto Fashion Week, Joe Fresh showed amazing knee-length lace coats. Stiks is on the mark with lace, falling in that romantic place between demure and seducutive. -
That vest is too good for the guys. -
Olders uses coffee, tea, safran flakes, onion skins and other natural dyes in her delicate, almost ethereal patterns. -
This third year St.Fx student gets down to business with her small collection. Last year flowers bloomed all over the spring runway and there’s no reason to believe we won’t want to walk through gardens again this year. -
Fashion can be personal: Designer Susan Johnston’s collection was created from vintage fabrics, lace and trims she discovered in her grandmother Kristen’s attic after she passed away. -

Brittnay Naugler adds fun peacock embellishments to a simple tank and skirt. -
Is it wrong that our favourite Drunk Girl outfit from John Michael is the least drunk? Then again, she does conjure up a little Betty Draper who does so love her martinis. -
Kavita Khanna and Reena Goyal, with by far the largest collection of the night, represented earth, wind and fire in their jewel-embellished collection. -
Monica Nauss finds pretty in polkadots. -
Tyagi launched his conceptually minded designs last week at THAW, a sold-out performance with Camerata Xara, but these look fab on the runway too. -
You might recognize her clear sheath from our AFW cover last week.
