My neighbours and I haven’t had heat or hot water in three days thanks to our piece-of-shit slumlord who lets the oil tank run dry. I think he does this on purpose every now and then to save money. No tenants can use heat or hot water for a week, probably saving him a lot of money. Heat and hot water is included in the lease. I suggest you fill the fucking tank, asshole, before we make a group complaint with the tenancy board. If our rent was late, you’d sure make sure you show up on time. This bastard never does any repairs either, but pulls up in a BMW and takes many trips to Greece thoughout the year. Buck up or be sued.

  1. Par for the course for Halifax landlords. We need annual city inspections and licensing of all privately run rental apartments. If restaurants can be inspected and licensed, so should apartments. We also need a city sponsored website where reviews of landlords can be left for all to view and contribute to. That way people would know who the really bad apples are and avoid them. The Tenancy Board is a bit of a joke. You can only go there after the damage has been done and you’re neck deep in a horrible situation. We need preventative measures. From long experience it is my estimation MOST of the private landlords in Halifax are crooks of one sort or another. I tried to get my city councillor to act on this issue and couldn’t even get my phone call or email returned. Looking at you, Lindell.

  2. Don’t most grown up cities have like actual tenant rights? Or like standards or rent control boards? I don’t think Halifax is past the whole image of apt=poor thing, It’s really getting to be quite tacky actually. The concept of “you can afford it, so why don’t you buy it” is strong here.
