There’s a lot to love about any Halifax Crafters event. More than a lot. So much talent, so much creativity, so much stuff you’ll want to buy for yourself (or if you’re less-selfish than I, for someone else).

The Crafters’ markets help us ring in the spring and winter every year with massive fairs, but this time the they are popping up at Two If By Sea (66 Ochterloney Street) from 8am until 5pm on Saturday (September 7) to welcome you, and autumn, with the open arms of 40 local vendors who’ll fill tables with wood and leather works, textiles, jewellery, ceramics, delicious treats and more. They call it a preview for their holiday show and we refuse to look forward to December (not yet, anyway) so we’ll call it a so long to summer, a special appearance and most importantly a sure thing. Check out new works from Sarah Burwash, Swaine Street Woodworking, Angela Grace Jewelery,Therese Bombardier Designs and way way more hard-working, hand-making neighbours of yours.

And HEY NEW STUDENTS, this event is free, the ferry to Dartmouth is painless (and only $2.25), Two If By Sea makes great coffee and it wouldn’t hurt you to get off campus and see some local craft.
