Gail Gosbee’s women’s clothing boutique Ekim Fashions was such a hit in New Glasgow, it only made sense to take a crack at the big city. (Yes, I just called Halifax a big city). The shop, which has a reputation for its kind and genuine customer service, opened up at its second location near historic properties and the waterfront (1781 Upper Water Street, 444-4088) last week, bringing a whole whack of bright new spring and summer looks with it. Serving a widespread demographic—“a mother and daughter can come into the store and find something they both like,” says the shop’s manager Brenda MacDonald— you’ll find name-brand denim, colourful tops, dresses, bags, jewellery and sandals and bathing suits for the hopeful among us (or those heading on vacay). Check out the newest addition to downtown Halifax Monday through Saturday, 10am to 6pm.
