Authentic Chinese food, artfully prepared and presented, is how co-owner Mary Wang describes what you can expect at her new eatery, called Wang’s Grand Chinese Restaurant (5677 Brenton Place, 429-9264). The chef is her boyfriend, Peter, a chef formerly at a resto in the UK. And before you think with class and style comes a hefty bill at the end of the meal, Wang assures Shoptalk that prices are “really reasonable and not expensive at all.” That includes dinner and lunch combos as low as $7.99, which includes a beverage. For now, with the place having just opened July 31, hours are 11am-2pm and 4pm-9pm through the week and 1pm-9pm on the weekend, but as people catch on to the new establishment, Wang expects to be open from 11am-10pm weekdays and 11am-11pm weekends. And, importantly for diners who prefer to order from home, delivery is an option, provided you reside in the immediate area. Call Wang’s for more information. Just tried today and the food is fantastic!!! And beautiful!!!
Their opening special price is incredible!! Average out only $6-$7 per dish. I am not quite sure how long this opening special will last tho., but definitely worth to try!!!
Just had dinner at Wang’s. Food was bad to mediocre – no taste, no chili in Chili Beef, and just barely warm. Best dish was mixed veg in Black Bean Sauce. The prices are not less than other Chinese restaurants and the food is absolutely inferior.
Seems obviously the person that posted below has something against the owners… Help Halifax out? I mean, exaggerate much?

I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious, authentic food we were served at this new restaurant. The food was fresh and beautifully presented. The portions were considerable and the taste was exquisite. This is not the fast food Chinese food we have become accustomed to. This was carefully prepared fresh with clear and distinct flavors. We tried several dishes and came out with a few favs. Sizzling steak with green onion and ginger, the chili shredded beef and lemon chicken were some of our top picks. The price was right as well … oh and the wontons – clearly made fresh and unlike any other I have ever had. Absolutely delicious!!!
This restaurant came recommended by friends so my partner and I went for Tuesday supper.
The food is exceptional and service is friendly. My favourite dish is lemon chicken! It is so beautifully presented and so tasty!

I Had dinner with two of my friends and the food was absolutely delicious. The food is not sugary, greasy and does not taste like it is packed with preservatives like other Chinese restaurants; It is very fresh and taste very yummy. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food served and the waitresses are all lovely and very friendly especially the blonde waitress. 😉 This restaurant is very recommended.
Just ate at Wang’s tonight and I’m definitely glad I went. Great location, great atmosphere, excellent service, and amazing food. I’ll be back for sure!
Last week my sister and I tried out Wang’s. We thoroughly enjoyed our dishes. The spring rolls were the best we had ever tasted and freshly made. We tried two different dishes (orange chicken and also chicken in black bean sauce), the generous portions and the great taste of freshly prepared food definitely puts this restaurant on our “we’ll be back” list.

I was surprised by how excellent the food is! The food is so different than other Chinese restaurants and not greasy at all. Also both my wife and I noticed that the food is so freshly prepared! A+++!
Party of 5 ate at Wang’s last night and enjoyed the food. We ordered the meal for 4 and added some dishes to that – we espedially enjoyed the lemon chicken and the ginger beef. We were the only table there but it was a Tuesday night and we found it cold however our server was very accommodating and moved us beside the fire which was great. The service was friendly and efficient. We will definitely go back.
