Halifax for Haiti, a benefit concert featuring Halifax-based DRUM! and other artists is being planned for the Halifax Metro Centre for Monday, February 8 at 7:30pm. Organized by Brookes Diamond Productions, proceeds from this fundraising show will go towards helping people affected by the devastating earthquake.

From a Brookes Diamond press release:

“We’re in the early stages bringing this together right now, but the cast of DRUM! wanted to do something on a large scale to help the Haitian people,” said Brookes Diamond, from his Halifax office on Thursday. “Our focus this month has been on our Olympic performances, but seeing what has happened in Haiti, we realized we could do something in a major way to help the earthquake-ravaged country. We have to help!”

Ticket prices and other performers will be announced at a later date.

  1. Can someone answer me something? What’s up with benefit concerts? It’s a venue that has exploded in recent years. Someone dying, benefit concert. Poverty, benefit concert. Disease or illness, benefit concert. Let’s save the earth and conserve energy, benefit concert.

  2. QUESTION: What’s the story on the promoters’ ( Mrs. Diamond on CBC with Tom Murphy ) not appearing toexplain where the money is going. She kept referring to “the proceeds”. I think in today’s world, we need to have complete and full disclosure
