Shoptalk has learned that Opa Greek Taverna kings Costa Elles and Chris Tzaneteas have been granted a new liquor licence, for a new establishment to go into the location of their late, lamented wine bar Seven (1579 Grafton Street). The former licence for Seven has been transferred a new Dartmouth Crossing location of Opa, to open at 150 Hector Gate. It will join the Argyle/Blowers Street and Bayers Lake locations of the upscale Greek eatery. Read the NSUARB decision for more.

So what’s the new deal? When Seven closed, didn’t the owners say it was a money making business????
For some reason, upscale bars in Halifax just don’t work. I guess $60 bottles of wine go better with $100 a plate “food”… I tried Seven once and honestly, it wasn’t that good. Here’s hoping that they put an actual bar here (who the hell wants to go to an upscale place two doors down from Maxwell’s and Pizza Corner?).
