REMARKS
The new “chicanes” were required by CN, says Drisdelle, because travelling through them requires facing one direction, then the opposite, so that it’s almost impossible to not see that one train a day rolling at five km/hr down the tracks. And yes, they were specifically designed to force bikers to dismount.

Could some please explain to me why the hell these chicanes (no need for quotes around that word btw) are a bad thing?? It covers CN from insurance claims from idiots that peddle into a train and it probably may actually save a biker or two. So you have to dismount for five seconds, BIG DEAL.
These “chicanes” are absolutely crazy. Not only do they suck for bikers if one walks though them it makes them feel like “cattle” being herded.
If these were truly “required” by CN why have they not been there for the last 5 years?
Would be nice if someone would get rid of them. “Required to force people to see the train? Are you kidding me”
Why are these chicanes a bad thing? Well you can’t go through them with a child trailer on your bike. Just won’t fit without disassembling it and lifting it over the chicanes.
