Though they’ve been around a few years, this is the local band’s
first full-length. Action in the North Atlantic delivers nautical-themed math rock with punk energy, speeding up and
turning up the volume of some of their older material. “Strike It From
the Lexicon” pairs sullen lyrics with an anxious, angry swell of sound,
while “Munitions Ships” begins with deceptively catchy riffs before
descending into dark, swampy rock. “Dagger Woods” feels like good ol’
Halifax indie rock with the refrain “We want the salt out of our
sails,” bringing you straight down to the harbour on a windy day. It
blends well-crafted lyrics that could easily fill a broody acoustic
album with a heavy, shouty, punk-edged sound. –Laura Kenins
