Chickenfoot are due to make their Halifax debut this Sunday on Citadel Hill, but most folks around here have been looking forward to Sloan’s return, especially given the terrible news that bassist Chris Murphy was thrown from his bicycle when he was struck by a hit-and-run driver late Friday night. According to an official statement from the band: “Chris is recovering at home having being released from the hospital on Saturday morning. The impact resulted in a broken collarbone and an assortment of cuts and bruises. We’re confident that he will have a full recovery and he has not sustained any critical injuries. Witnesses were able to report the license number and model of the vehicle, and police are now investigating.” Although Murphy won’t be able to play bass or drums, he’s confident that he’ll be able to sing. “Other members of the band will pitch in, swapping instruments to cover for him as required through the performance.”

If you’re referring to RockFest, that’s this SUNDAY August 2nd on Citadel Hill, not Saturday.
