It’s the fourth year that Symphony Nova Scotia has decided to give big love to the public in the form of free performances, making its wealth of master musicians incredibly accessible to the public. Nice! So, symphony lovers and music fans in general, here’s the lowdown. If you’re holding out on buying your season tickets, or if the anticipation is killing you, check out SNS’s season preview this Sunday at 2pm at the Maritime Museum. The music of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven will grace the Spring Garden Library just in time for lunch on Tuesday September 27 (again, free) as well as the Port of Wines Winemakers’ Dinner on Thursday September 29 (there is a charge, wine enthusiasts). And out of towners on the south shore can see SNS in Peggys Cove (this Saturday, 7:30pm at Beales’ Bailiwick Ltd). Phew. There are also kid-friendly and senior events, plus the Symphony’s opening shows with Hawksley Workman is on the horizon (September 30 and October 1). Essentially you have no excuse to not get familiar with Symphony Nova Scotia and its new resident conductor Shalom Bard. And that’s that.
