Aphasia: Hope is a Four Letter Word screens Wednesday, June 15 at Park Lane Cinema, 7pm. The film sheds a light on aphasia, an acquired communication disorder impairing a person’s ability to process language due to trauma to the brain, such as a stroke. Tickets are $20, purchased in advance by calling 445-4960 or emailing nsaa@bellaliant.net, or at the door prior to the screening. The Nova Scotia Aphasia Association, a non-profit, is sponsoring the event.
Written by North Carolina writer, actor, and director, Jim Gloster, the documentary is about Gloster’s friend and fellow actor, Carl McIntyre, who suffered a massive stroke in 2005 at age 44 and developed aphasia as a result.
The film’s screening will be followed by a short talk and then a question and answer period with McIntyre.
