The first release from Jon Foreman of Switchfoot and Sean Watkins of
Nickel Creek proves that two singing heads are better than one. The
album takes the folk instruments of Nickel Creek, including a ukulele
on the lovable, almost vaudevillian “Look for me Baby,” and adds
Switchfoot’s up-tempo beats and gusto. “Throw it Away” is another
standout, starting with a stark guitar riff that builds to the end with
a second guitar buzzing like a sitar, strings and eventually a pump
organ. This album is superior to anything these musicians have done
with their respective bands and is a great example of what happens when
musicians from different genres collide.
