Humble & Brilliant is an apt title for the fifth studio album from Haligonian MC Jesse Dangerously, who’s been living away the past couple of years. Not only does it demonstrate the depth of the Halifax hip-hop scene, but it showcases an artist who deserves the attention of mainstream audiences. Jesse Dangerously’s work may not garner the attention that the latest from Classified has been racking up, but it’s no less worthy. If you dig vintage hip-hop production coupled with a lyrical density and sick flow, this is an album for you—fans of Buck 65 and Ghettosocks will feel at home here. If I were as brilliant as JD, I’m not sure how humble I’d be.
