So yes. It’s true. James Blunt is coming to the Halifax Metro Centre on Dec 2. We don’t have any beefs with James Blunt. Seriously. He’s such an easy target. Quite inoffensive, really. Nope, we don’t have any problems with French-beach-frolicking, Petra Nemcova-dating, whiney-voiced, ferret-faced British wanker minstrels. Nor are we particularly concerned about the poor, confused, lust-maddened young women who will dole out $49.50-$59.50 in a glassy-eyed, trance-like state to see him sing heartfelt and wussy songs about girls and flowers for two hours. No, what really bakes our noodle is that someone like Luke Doucet is still opening for people like Mr. Blunt when he should be the one headlining stadium shows. But we digress. If you’re going to spend money on this show, do yourself a favour and go early enough to catch Doucet with his band, The White Falcon, and witness one of the best guitarists and showmen in Canada. Tickets go on sale this Friday Sept 12 at 9 am and you can grab them by phoning 451-1221 or going to www.ticketatlantic.com. And what the hey—while you’re here, take a look at an animated video for Weird Al Yankovic‘s James Blunt cover, “You’re Pitiful.”
