The Early November
The Mother, The Mechanic and The Path
(Drive-Thru)
A band releasing a three-CD set is a bit ostentatious. Emo-indie rockers The Early November almost pull it off. The band’s weaknesses show, but the writing is fairly solid throughout. The set is a concept of sorts, about a son and his overbearing father. The son grows up and falls into the same trap with his son. It’s pretentious, but the music makes up for it. The first disc, The Mechanic, is more power-pop and indie rock; The Mother is a more country-blues-driven work. The Path is the Pink Floyd record, a “soundtrack” with dialogue and characters interspersed with the music. An experiment worth the single disc price.

wow, with such friendly, courteous people like you living and breeding here, who would want to leave?
Hey if you don’t want to shop on Sunday – don’t. But you’ve got some set of drooping balls to impose your ideals on the rest of us. I’ll bet it pisses you off that you can’t actually turn the clock back 200 yrs. Pity!
Amen! Only partiot left.
Oh my what a class act you are.It is people just like yourself, so primitive minded that cause us classy people to go back to more cultured places with more refined people.Adios maritime loser!
Halifax and NS are no more “your” city or province than they are mine, or anyone else’s. Those of us that live here are as entitled to an opinion as you are, and stating said opinion is hardly the same as hating the subject of that opinion. Those who want to lable NS backward or medieval over the “Sunday shopping” issue are being a little unfair, I think, but they are allowed to believe so regardless.Perhaps if we were a little more thoughtful and a little less venemous, these discussions wouldn’t devolve into mindless insult wars or idiotic chest thumping.
Don’t force your ‘day of rest’ ideals on the rest of the world. Just because some outsiders want Sunday shopping doesn’t mean they hate this province. I’m here from ‘outside’ and love it, even with the lack of Sunday shopping. But let individuals make that choice. Not everyone is a God-fearing patriot. Suck it up.
So that would mean that First Nation people would have more say than you since your people, the newcommers and upsurpers of their land came in unwanted. Let us respect the REAL patriots and give them back their fucking land…
Get a life. My family’s been here since canada was colonized. Just because you cant have things your way is no reason to impose your idea on others. YOUR WAY is NOT the HIGHWAY. If I need groceries on Sunday, I should be able to get the if I want. Get a god damned life, you prick. Canada is about open minds and trying new things. SOmething which you don’t have, so apparently, you’re not a canadian patriot.
Dude…do you realize that by calling all of your fellow citizens pricks and non-patriots…you’re being a fucking hypocrite? Canada IS about open minds. Which means we HAVE to listen to you, but we DON’T agree with you. If you want fucking groceries on sunday, go back to your honky little redneck roots and GET A VEGETABLE GARDEN. BUY SOME COWS. GO FUCK YOURSELF. and don’t flame me here, ohhhh hell no. Fucking email me and say it to my inbox.Gimpchrist@hotmail.com
