6 things to get you going this Tuesday

Halifax Police want to reduce crime and film folk are still mad.

1
Nova Scotia’s film folks continue to express their anguish over the Liberal government’s changes to this province’s tax credit system. A new website chronicles some of the industry professionals who have moved—or seem to be planning to move—elsewhere for work. So far there’s six. A crowdfunding campaign has also been set up to recoup the $200 set-up costs for the website (which presumably doesn’t fall under Nova Scotia’s digital media credit).

2
Black government leaders from across the country are meeting over the next three days in Birchtown to discuss the challenges faced by their communities in Canada.

3
Elsewhere, the LGBTQ Health Research conference will be taking place today and tomorrow at the University of King’s College, exploring the risks and strategies for the oft invisible health needs of non-cisgender communities.

4
Halifax Police debuted their two-year-in-the-making, 10-year strategic plan yesterday. Goals for the police by 2025 include reducing crime.

+ 2 Sure Things
This week, Devour! A Food Film Festival is screening the beautiful Cinema Paradiso smack in the middle of Certainly Cinnamon’s new kitchen, and pairing it with a six-course southern Italian meal. It’ll be a night for food lovers, film lovers and anyone with a heart (“Alfreddooo!”)—and there’s still time to get tickets.

There’s still time to enter our Some Sweet Summer Contest! The Coast and MooseLight Radler are stoked on summer. Enter your email to be entered in to a draw to win a vintage inspired Radler city cruiser bicycle and prize pack. The draw takes place this Friday, just in time for the tail end of Bike Week.
