Coast exclusive: rinks that are open this winter (weather permitting).

The following rinks are open, weather permitting:

George Dixon Recreation Centre (off of Gottingen St., near Uniake Square)
Larry O'Connell (Fourth St. off of Newton, off of Chebucto)
Ardmore Park Community Rink (Oxford and Almon)
North End Community Rink (Agricola and Lady Hammond)
Halifax Commons (Pool near the skate park)
Porters Lake Community Centre (4693 Hwy 7)
Mineville Community (Bennett Park)
Grand Desert (St Therese Hall, Chesacook area)
DJ Butler Park (Flamingo Drive, Clayton Park, Bridgeview subdivision)
Lake of the Woods (Exit 4 on Hwy #103, Silver Birch Drive)

The following rinks might also be open, weather permitting:
Berry Hill Subdivision (Upper Sackville)
Fall River (Trevor Ave., Schwarzwald Subdivision)
Springvale Sub-Division (Edward Drillio Park, at Downs Ave.)
Sheet Harbour (1⁄2 on St. James Church property and 1⁄2 on HRM)

Go off piste
There are plenty of lakes to skate on in the HRM. The city does measure ice thickness. You can check on the safety of the ice for the lake closest to you on this HRM site.
