Love birds, it’s time to reconnect on a spring weekend away

We’re all for some winter snuggling with our honeys, but it’s time to reconnect on a spring weekend away. Love birds, this “Where’s the Fun” weekend is planned just for you.

You deserve a little TLC and nothing recharges you better than a wilderness weekend away. Week three is made up of sleeping under the stars while reconnecting with nature, and then traveling up the road to the cultural wonder that is the city of Saint John. We have a romantic getaway jam-packed with delicious dining, creative cocktails, and juicy java!

Pack all of your romantic essentials and hit the road with your sweetheart – don’t worry, we won’t sneak a peek into your bags.

You’ll want to rush right over to the heart of Atlantic Canada and check out your sleeping accommodations at Ridgeback Lodge. Placed in the picture-perfect Kingston Peninsula, you’ll be able to rest and relax under the stars with their glamping domes and log cabins. Hit the hot tub and get ready to connect with your best friend. Forget cooking, cleaning, and daily tasks, and remember what truly matters: each other.

Port City Royal - SUBMITTED
Port City Royal

Reminiscing is half the fun of getting away with your love, and Port City Royal is all about tickling our palates with nostalgic notes. With one bite, they’ll take you back in time and teach you a little something about the cultures that came before us. Dive into history and see where the Port City will take you – their Maple Pie is a sweet Canadian treat to honour.

Stay in town a little while longer and take a skip and a jump over to Hopscotch Whisky. Made for the curious at heart, their whiskys are experimental with soft toffee, honey and spices, or tannic oak palates. Enjoy the dim mood lighting and get ready to live a little. Before you leave, make sure to snap a pic of their custom-made Jackalope!

Don’t you wish you could be a kid again? At Eighty Three Bar Arcade, you can play like one. Brush off your gaming skills and verse each other in some old school arcade games – you may even recognize a few retro favourites. What brings two loves closer together like a little friendly competition?

We can’t start a day of romance without a cup of joe, and lucky for you, you can take these roasts on-the-go! JavaMoose started right in Saint John before expanding worldwide. This is where their dreams began and continue today with speciality dessert coffees like Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter, and Canadian Maple.

Stopping in for a taste of local brews - SUBMITTED
Stopping in for a taste of local brews

Pull up a stool – it’s beer o’clock on this getaway. In keeping with our maple adventures this season, you’ll find some beer and maple pairings between a few local favourites. A Honey Maple Porter can be found at Big Tide Brewing Co. in collaboration with Érabliere du Versant Nord. Foghorn Brewing Co treats us to another, with the help of Briggs Maples, to bring us a Maple Rye Ale. There’s nothing like connecting with the community over sweet beer – even the most romantic of couples need some other human contact.

Treat your sweets to an afternoon off-the-grid at Elmhurst Outdoors for a sugar camp tour. Spending time together outside is one way to a healthier relationship, but another way to the heart is through the stomach. Snack on pancakes drenched in syrup – you’ll leave happier and ready to take on the world together.

Don’t play tug-of-war with each other’s hearts when you can gaze out at nature’s tug-of-war at the Reversing Falls Rapids Cuddle up to watch the world’s highest tides reverse the flow of the Saint John River. Even when you stick around for the entire cycle, you still won’t believe your eyes when you see the tide turn. This unique phenomenon is sure to leave you mesmerized. You and your love will definitely have something to talk about for the entire drive home, and for weeks to come.

There’s nothing we love more than reconnecting busy hearts and pulling them away from the stressors of the day-to-day. We heart showing off some New Brunswick’s most romantic spots – check in with us next week to see W.T.F? Where’s The Fun?
