Word on the Street Halifax Book & Magazine Festival

Cashmere sweaters and Word on the Street—two things that will warm me up during this already crisp September. The one-day festival has an impressive lineup of authors will attract upwards of 10,000 attendees. Here's a list of must-see events:

What's for Dinner? 11-11:45am, Creative Lab

You should attend if: You have watched every episode of Chef's Table—even the French one.

Authors: Laura-Jane Koers (Cook Lively!), Simon Thibault (Pantry and Palate) and Krista McLellan (World Food for Student Cooks).


Canada Book Fund Presents: Stories of Change 11-11:45am, Lindsay Room

You should attend if: You listen to The Moth.

Authors: Bridget Canning (The Greatest Hits of Wanda Jaynes), Lesley Choyce (The Unlikely Redemption of Alexander MacNeil) and Glenn Deir (The Money Shot).


An Afternoon of Poetry 2:30-3:50pm, RBC Room

You should attend if: Tyra's college application in Friday Night Lights gave you goosebumps.

Poets: Kathy Mac (Human Misunderstandings), Phillip Crymble (Not Even Laughter), Budge Wilson (After Swissair) and Anas Atakora (En attendant le poeme)


Canada Book Fund Presents: Home and Family in Fiction 2-2:30pm, Lindsay Room

You should attend if: You can differentiate between the works of Nancy Meyers and Nora Ephron.
