Published August 25, 2005.Wolf ParadeEP(Sub Pop)Holy Arcade Fire, Batman! Does everything that comes out of Montreal have to be this good? Wolf Parade is the latest buzz band from the city, and its similarities to AF and Franz Ferdinand will not be lost on even the most casual listener. The band plays with a pants-on-fire approach to songwriting, throwing everything except the washing machine into the mix for what becomes an ecstatic orgy of melodic hooks (the case of first two cuts of this teaser "Shine a Light" and "You Are a Runner and I Am My Father's Son"). "Disco Sheets" and "Lousy Pictures" are less interesting but written much earlier in the band's existence. If the full length (due September 27) is anything like this, then we could be in for a wild ride this fall. —Dave Haydencategories: Canadian artist
