White Rabbit, Red Rabbit New Sure Thing

When: Sept. 24-Oct. 5, 8 p.m. and Saturdays, 2 p.m. Continues through Oct. 5 2013
Price: $15
White Rabbit, Red Rabbit is an uncomfortable experience, for both the actor (Jackie Torrens in this case, but a different one every night), and the viewers, all of whom are called upon to be active participants. With no director, minimal set, a previously unseen and unrehearsed script plus an embargo on what can be revealed, it also provides challenges to a reviewer. The play is written in the voice of Nassim Soleimanpour, an Iranian playwright forbidden to leave his country. Soleimanpour uses the script as a vehicle to reach out across time and space. Is he successful? Oh yes! His presence is felt in vey concrete ways. Torrens was both vulnerable and masterful as the story was revealed to and through her. White Rabbit, Red Rabbit is truly a fascinating and thought-provoking theater experience.—Kate Watson
