Where to get toasty with toddies

Last week's early winter blast gave us cause to ask: where can you get a nice warm drink?

The time has changed, it’s often below 10 degrees outside and getting off work means walking out of the office and into darkness---while it’s not winter yet, it sure friggin’ feels like it. Aside from hibernating under the covers, you can avoid the wintry weather by heading to one of these bars and warming your chilled self with a toasty drink.

Old Triangle Irish Alehouse
The Triangle prides itself on traditional Irish coffee, while manager Joel Chiasson adds, “A warm pint of Guinness is always good on a cold day.” A hot rum toddy is also on the list. 5136 Prince Street, 492-4900

Fireplaces and couches---what more do you need? The Fireside has seven specialty coffees, and we’re told the Nutty Buddy---a mix of Frangelico and Kahlua---is its most popular wintry drink. 1500 Brunswick Street, 423-5995

Argyle Bar and Grill
The Peppermint Patty hot chocolate and the Body Heat coffee (Talea amaretto, creme de banane and Kahlua) are the winners here, with a long list of others if those don’t float your winter boat. 1575 Argyle Street, 492-8844

Henry House
With every November comes the Henry House’s special: a hot cider with spiced rum. While the hot chocolate is sweet goodness, the cider is the most popular warm drink in the place. 1222 Barrington Street, 423-5660
