What Halifax is

The Coast's most recent editorial has disappointed me, and many other locals, **yet again**. While you mention a couple great things about urban renewal in HRM, you show that on important matters such as this you miss the boat entirely by not doing your research or keeping abreast of the local news scene.

The Toronto Star's article that your friend mentioned, "Will Halifax get its groove back in 2008?", is not a Star piece, but something they pulled off the wire. The article, written by Michael Tutton, was actually published here in Halifax by The Chronicle Herald. It appeared on Sunday, December 23rd, in The Nova Scotian.

What with all of the talk about civic renewal and leadership on The Coast's pages, it would do a whole lot of good for your office to keep abreast of what other local papers are already saying on the topic. The Coast is by now as orthodox and gentrified as The Herald with an overlapping readership - get to know what the other papers are also saying about HRM business before parroting it yourself, and ending up with egg on your face.

What should be done with the dead agave plant?

  • Chop it up and chase it with lime and salt
  • Cast it in bronze and put it where Cornwallis was
  • Burn it ritually for biomass
  • Plant it in every white girl's succulent garden
