"Wax on, wax off." These are the wise words of Mr. Miyagi, Daniel Larusso’s karate teacher in The Karate Kid. Wax on, wax off. To polish a car or a manuscript you need to know what to add and what to remove. You need to know when it’s time to let the editors see what you’ve done, but you also need to know when it’s time to continue revising your work. Finally, you need to know where to send your precious baby when it is truly time to cut the umbilical cord. Instructor James Leck will help you develop your own process for reworking your manuscript. We’ll look at restructuring, revising, editing and examine some ways you can find the best place to send your work when it’s “done.” Each class will feature exercises to help you develop editing and self-editing skills while getting critical feedback in a supportive environment. The course also provides an opportunity to meet other writers with common goals and to share ideas and strategies. While it would be helpful to come with a finished first draft of a manuscript, it’s not necessary.
