So, your sea doesn't seem to have all that many fish swimming in it and Cupid hasn't exactly been Hawkeye lately. What's a love lorn, comic reading, sci-fi and fantasy loving person to do? Get off the internet and into a chair at The Hideaway Pub & Grille, of course. This Sunday, Halifax's favourite geek convention is hosting a speed dating event that totally takes the guesswork out of eyeing that stranger across the bar and adds a little something that might've been missing in the city's dating scene. "Not missing," muses Leanne Milo, one of the directors of community events and promotions for Hal-Con. "Adding something unique. Adding another little piece where people who like genre things can go and know that the people there will like similar things, so it's not going to be 'What are you talking about, what's Star Wars?'" A hard scenario to fathom, but you never know these days. "At least if you come here you know people will at least know what you're talking about." A classic speed dating set up---you'll have a five minute chat with every eligible guy or gal (ice breakers provided) and turn in your rate cards at the end. It's meant to be fairly anonymous (so don't bring up where you work or live) and Hal-Con will hook you up with anyone who checked "Yes" on that Do You Like Me? type of card. It's like dating, but super-powered.
