The Viewfinders International Film Festival for Youth starts this evening, with a gala screening of
African Cats, a Disney documentary following three groups of big predatory cats on the African savanna.
For those who don't know, the festival screens films made for (and occasionally, by) children. There are plenty of educational opportunities and workshops for teachers and parents. The full schedule of screenings can be found
here. The festival is organized and run in conjunction with the
Atlantic Film Festival, and you know what good work they do. This year is the 10th anniversary of Viewfinders, so congratulations on the decade.
And, check out The Coast this Thursday for a story on one of the films screening Thursday night,
Jane's Journey, a documentary on the life and work of
Jane Goodall. We were fortunate enough to interview Dr Goodall last week when she was in town, and will be posting a video of that interview online this week, too.
