Videogameramma night with Nerd Army

Dust off those Nintendo game skills: It's time to put them to the test.

Remember when The Wizard's Super Mario Bros. 3 finale had everyone reaching for a Nintendo controller and wishing they, too, could enter a speed round and star in a Fred Savage flick? For five bucks this Saturday, the Second Last Gamestore and Reflections are bringing you that childhood dream. Gamers in the city need to show up at 9pm to sign up for competitions in Street Fighter 4, Mario Kart 64 and a Super Mario Bros. 3 speed round, plus an arcade tournament of Final Fantasty 7 Gold Saucer. If you're not into gaming but have a fixation on game soundtracks, there's a treat for you: Nerd Army, voted Best Cover Band in our Best of Halifax poll last year, will break bricks and shoot down green tubes to cover that video game music you crave. Pew pew, pew pew pew!
