Re: “Letters to the editor, June 13, 2013

Today happens to be Father's Day.. I wonder what their children will think of them when they grow up and realize these Dad's were the ones who poisoned them and made them sick so they could make a profit.???
They say we have "free healthcare" in Canada. Yet we pay for it through taxes. So they poison us (fluoride, gmo's, insecticides, herbicides, fossil fuels, etc) and then charge us taxes to pay for the illnesses that they created.. what a scam.!!!!
Why is it the most educated and the wealthiest couldn't think up a better system than this?? Or are they so wrapped up in their own ego's and sense of self importance that they just don't give a crap about anyone but themselves..

Re: “Letters to the editor, June 13, 2013

Nice article. Thank you for bringing it to the publics attention. I am with you. There are 4000 patents sitting in the US patent office for free clean energy. Cold fusion was cracked in 2011. The Keshe Foundation gave the world free plasma technology in 2005. The list goes on & on.
I recently wrote Mr Dexter & Mayor Savage asking why we are still using coal when we have methane from the sewage treatment plants, as well as the farms. Free, clean and unlimited power. I haven't received any acknowledgement or reply. Which makes me wonder who are the major shareholders in Emera.. I am guessing these two men and their families. No wonder all the youth are moving away from here. Between the taxes and the poisoning they have no choice.. I wonder if they tell their families they love them, and what exactly love means to them..

Re: “In context: Why bus driver overtime exploded last year

Tim, while your digging into things..maybe you should ask why they built a new transit facility to be able to do the maintenance on the new articulated buses, only to now try and privatize the maintenance of them,?? Or even now talking about making access a bus an essential service only to have had that to on the table for privatization as well.??

Re: “In context: Why bus driver overtime exploded last year

I may not agree with all the things written about in this newspaper, but I have learned.. If you want or care about what is happening in this city, this is the paper to read. Thanks for keeping us informed and all your hard work. I hope you continue doing this service. We the public are sick of the politicians living and spending with their caviar tastes and wasting our money. Time to open the books and hold them accountable. BTW how many ppl are still paying for transit in their taxes.?? Isn't that illegal.?? Paying for a service you aren't getting.?? 39 PR people.. what are they hiding.?? When you are honest and honourable there is NO need to hide or put a spin on anything. Looks like they have over spent and mismanaged and now instead of admitting the mistakes, they are trying to cover it up at the expense of the public and the transit drivers. Why has it now become acceptable for our political Leaders, and I use that term loosely, to be sooo crooked.?? I find it very disheartening and embarassing. No wonder our children leave here.!! I believe it is time for us all to get involved and clean up these supposed Leaders, What ever happened to Role Models.?? You know ppl we can look up to.?? Thanks for this article..it was truly needed.

Re: “Lewis Roach has been driving bus for 34 years

This strike is just going to cause more strife and danger for the drivers. Ken Wilson, from the union has already said that if Transit will sit and deal with the outstanding issues the buses would be back on the roads helping the 100,000 ppl that use and depend on this service. No wonder everyone is leaving here and looking for employment elsewhere. Is it not bad enough that the wages are so low and now you want to take away their only means of transportation?? Just so Transit can have things done their way. How childish is this.?? I think it's time we have ppl running things that are true leaders and not stuck on getting their own way. With all the technology and education that is suppose to be running things, you'd think they would have the ability to be able to come up with a cost effective and efficient system without causing all the disruption in the lives of the ppl that rely on this system, as well as working within it, and keep the city running smoothly. This just keeps looking more and more like the fiascal of the school board fighting over chairs. No wonder they say the maritimes is 10 or 20 yrs behind the rest of the world. I think it's time for everyone to grow up and work together. Build a province and a city we can afford, and be proud of..Common sense tells you, if you can't afford the mortgage on one place.. you don't go buying another bigger one.!!! Get Transit at the table dealing with their workers concerns .. This is what we teach our children right from the start..Isn't it time we all start being good role models..

Re: “Transit negotiations continue; strike is set to begin Thursday morning.

Before being in a union I have worked in the private sector most of my life. I was a single parent. In todays workforce most employers see this as a negative thing. They want you on call and available to them whenever. The problem with this is it is our children who suffer. What do we teach them, that money is more important.??? As we now look around society and the crime rates of the youth we are now reaping the benefits of putting profits before people. We have come to a time where it takes most families 2 incomes in order to afford basic necessities. I know that most of the transit workers are family ppl and have seen many married couples, and single parents trying to do their jobs and keep their families together. I also know that these drivers when working the day shifts, work split shifts. Which means that they are gone for 12 hrs a day and only paid for 8. Them being able to pick their work only makes sense. After all isn't it better to have time for our children and advance society than to create even more problems.??? And with the amount of stress that they go through in a day, making them happier workers. I don't appreciate having a cranky driver, do you.?? As for the ppl who don't agree with having organizations that stand up for workers rights, I would suggest that they apply for unionized positions and find out what a benefit it is to be united and have brothers and sisters who care.. I do know that if govts worked for the ppl, we wouldn't need unions to protect their rights..
